The Director of Communications is the chief storyteller and brand champion for MBA who leads the development and execution of comprehensive communication, public relations, and marketing strategies to elevate our public profile, engage members, and drive our advocacy and programmatic goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a multi-channel communications strategy aligned with the organization's strategic plan.
Oversee the organizational brand, ensuring consistent messaging, tone, and visual identity across all platforms.
Oversee the content across all digital platforms, including the website, email, and social media.
Drive the creation of compelling content, including newsletters, annual reports, impact stories, and campaign videos.
Track digital analytics to optimize engagement and reach.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, reporters, and community stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and prepare leadership
Leads advertising sales for publications.
Staff Liaison for the marketing committee and committee recruitment throughout the year.
Other responsibilities as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications
The role requires knowledge equivalent to that, which normally would be acquired by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in communications, public relations, or marketing—preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Storytelling: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. The ability to translate complex programmatic work into inspiring, accessible stories.
Digital Fluency: Proficiency with content management systems, email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and graphic design software.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate with diverse teams.
