Position Overview
The Director of Curriculum and Content Development is responsible for designing and enhancing innovative and industry-leading curriculum and educational resources for a statewide trade association serving the rental housing industry. In this role, the Director will create relevant curriculum for adult learners delivered via FAA University, an online learning management system. Additionally, the Director of Curriculum and Content Development will support leadership development, workforce development, and will play a key role in content and speaker management for the annual conference. The Director of Curriculum and Content Development is instrumental to the advancement of the Association’s strategic plan goals and support of our Mission and Vision.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Program Development:
Create, develop, and integrate industry-focused curriculum and courses for the learning management system, FAA University (FAAU).
Evaluate, iterate, and improve existing curriculum and content to ensure programming remains timely, relevant, and impactful.
Collaborate with aligned community partners to source topics and trainings to address or enhance skills and identified industry needs.
Source and vet subject matter experts to design programs that are engaging, interactive, and effective.
Design scripts, prompts, knowledge checks, and content outlines for presenters to ensure content meets FAA’s brand and professional standards.
Stay informed of emerging issues and industry trends that are “top of mind” for rental housing professionals.
Collaborate with FAA’s local affiliate partners to promote FAAU and feature affiliate-curated content on the learning management system.
Ensure that all curriculum and content that is produced or distributed respects and protects the intellectual property rights of all parties and participants, including FAA.
Work with intellectual property attorneys to copyright and protect new and pre-existing FAA content and curriculum.
Speaker and Content Management:
Work with the Director of Meetings and the FAA Conference Committee to curate best-in-class programming and speakers for Inspire, the Annual Conference and Trade Show.
Design, distribute, and manage the annual “Call for Presentations” for professional speakers and subject matter expert panelists.
Support the Conference Committee with evaluating potential keynote and paid speakers, submitted panel sessions, and management of the session schedule for the annual conference.
Manage selected speakers and panelists to ensure all necessary contracts, materials, and information is received within established deadlines.
Collaborate with the Director of Meetings to design new formats and learning opportunities for the annual conference with an emphasis on the attendee experience to ensure Inspire stays “fresh” for new and returning attendees.
Leadership and Workforce Development:
Assist the Director of Association Resources and Leadership Lyceum Committee with evaluation and continuous improvement of FAA’s signature volunteer leadership development program.
Support the promotion of Leadership Lyceum to FAA’s affiliate partners, emerging leaders, and the membership at large.
Support the Vice President with sourcing and scheduling presenters, topics, and content for the Property Management Executive Forum’s virtual and in-person opportunities throughout the year.
Stay informed of, and engaged with, the National Apartment Association Education Institute’s (NAAEI) workforce and career development programs and key personnel.
Identify, partner with and support aligned community partners focused on workforce and talent development such as collegiate programs (i.e. Valencia College’s Property Management and Apartment Maintenance Technician programs).
Collaborate with the Director of Meetings and affiliate partners to produce and execute new in-person events focused on key constituencies, such as Maintenance Labs.
Work with FAA affiliates and other stakeholders to create and curate workforce development content, information, and resources focused on increasing the industry’s talent pipeline.
Cross Department Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Vice President, Director of Meetings, and FAA team to produce a course catalogue and calendar of virtual and in-person events.
Support the Director of Strategic Communications to source and develop editorial content for Multifamily Florida Magazine, FAAHQ.org, and other media.

Qualifications:
Bachelor or advanced degree in a related discipline preferred, but not required, so long as an equivalent level of professional experience can be clearly demonstrated
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with instructional design
This position requires a blend of skills in instructional design, curriculum development, content creation, and educational technology
Experience in a nonprofit or trade association setting is a plus, but not required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience with technologies like Elevate LMS, NoviAMS, Cadmium, Cognito Forms, and Asana is a plus, but not required
Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
FAA members represent all facets of the multifamily housing industry: apartment owners, management executives, developers, builders, investors, property managers, leasing consultants, maintenance personnel, suppliers, and related business professionals throughout the state of Florida.
The Florida Apartment Association (FAA) is part of a federation of 9 local associations and the National Apartment Association. FAA represents more than 1 million apartment homes in Florida, and provides advocacy, engagement, and networking opportunities for its members. Additionally, FAA conducts/commissions research focused on identifying barriers and providing solutions to housing oriented challenges in Florida.
