The Senior Manager of Membership is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving AIHA’s membership growth, engagement, and retention initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Membership & Technology, this position oversees the development and execution of membership strategies, marketing campaigns, and member experience programs. The role ensures alignment with AIHA’s mission to advance occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) by fostering a strong, engaged professional community. Additionally, the Senior Manager supervises 1–2 team members and collaborates across departments to deliver exceptional value to members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Design and implement membership recruitment and retention strategies.
Develop and execute member pipeline strategy to attract and retain members.
Content & Marketing
Oversee newsletter content and strategy, ensuring timely and relevant communication.
Manage renewal content and strategy to optimize member retention.
Lead marketing campaigns and strategy to support membership growth and engagement.
Member Experience
Oversee onboarding, renewal processes, and member communications.
Monitor feedback and resolve pain points to enhance satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with marketing, technology, and volunteer teams to improve engagement.
Data & Reporting
Analyze membership trends and prepare reports for leadership decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Maintain a first-class staff team in coordination with supervisor, which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and all applicable laws
Supervise 1-2 team members, providing leadership and guidance.
Guide the development of direct reports through action-oriented support, personalized development and cross-functional projects, delegating tasks and responsibilities to help staff achieve objections
Financial Responsibilities
In Coordination with the director develop and execute entrepreneurial and innovative approaches to Membership department to ensure financial success
Work with director to execute, monitor, and oversee performance on relevant contracts to ensure compliance
Work with Finance Department to ensure proper invoicing and crediting

Qualifications
Education & Experience
At least 10 years of experience in membership, recruitment, retention, and engagement
At least 5yrs supervisory experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in relevant area. In lieu of a degree 15plus years of experience will be considered.
At least 2 years’ work or volunteer experience in a professional membership organization or association
HubSpot
Preferred
Progressive leadership experience in association or non-profit setting achieving revenue goals, maintaining databases integrity, and managing budgets
Knowledge of ACGI
Travel
Travel for this position may be required for the annual connect conference.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Regular, predictable attendance is required
