Candidate and board of directors will review the successful candidate's background and desired work structure (contract or traditional employer/employee) along with commensurate salary benefits, as appropriate.

The successful candidate shall serve as the Executive Director of a 1956-founded trade association, serving the exclusive interests of the organized mechanical industry contractors in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Executive Director shall serve at the pleasure of the Association's governing board (5 elected members) and to the same directors who serve on a sister corporation board (the Mechanical Industry Fund).
Primary duties shall be to carry out the duties of the board of directors, with a focus on managing the affairs of the Association, serving as a liaison between the Assocation and its labor partner, U.P. Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 111; working with the Board on establishing and executing an annual budget; serving as the industry representative with regional economic development and building and construction industry organizations; working with the board of directors--individual and collective basis as they carry out their fiduciary duties to the Corporations; may serve on industry boards of directors-as assigned by the board of directors (e.g., Fringe Benefit Board of Trustees, JATC, U.P. Construction Council, etc.);
Excellent trade association management skills; working knowledge of the building and construction industry in general and preferably the mechanical sector; background in labor relations and fringe benefit trustee duties desirable. Excellent verbal, written and computer skills required. Willingness to carry out duties as an independent contractor (versus traditional employer/employee relationship)--negotiable with the board of directors.
