The Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Associations is seeking an outstanding individual for the position of Associate Executive Director. 

The MEMSPA Associate Executive Director is responsible for: 

Professional Learning – designing, organizing, coordinating, and executing all of the association’s professional learning programs regionally and state-wide. This includes planning the annual learning calendar, budgeting, developing presenters, preparing event marketing plans, and coordinating on site and online logistics.

Executive Liaison– as directed by the Executive Director, represents MEMSPA to various state-wide educational organizations and MDE meetings/committees.

Member Support – regional leadership guidance/assistance, assist executive director with member legal support services, miscellaneous member counseling and support, and regular member communication content.

Professional Program Oversight – mentoring/coaching arrangements; evaluation tool implementation; alternative pathway to certification; MEMSPA Ambassadors program; and miscellaneous grant management.

Governance Support – assist executive director with meeting direction for board of directors, executive committee, regional leadership retreat, and strategic planning.

This individual will be an important member of the MEMSPA team and serve as staff liaison to the professional development and annual conference committees while also providing support to region leaders. 

Key Performance Indicators

Key performance indicators include:

• Increased number of individuals served through MEMSPA learning offerings – state-wide and regionally
• Consistent quality in MEMSPA professional learning offerings as measured via participant evaluations
• Meeting or exceeding budgetary expectations set forth by the executive director

MEMSPA offers a modern, comfortable, professional office environment. Remote working is permitted – occasional face-to-face office time may be required. Physical demands are minimal but necessary in event facilitation. Travel required for conferences and workshops that will involve nights/weekends.

• Masters degree (preferred) in a relevant field
• A minimum of five years professional experience in education or the association industry 
• Administration Experience Required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure
• Detail and results-oriented
• Possess strong knowledge of budget processes 
• Proficient in use of technology platforms and programs
• Willingness to learn about the latest advances in effective use of digital and social media for learning and communication
• Talent for developing and maintaining strategic networks of people and institutions
