The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) is a 501c6 non-profit professional organization. We have two great educational conferences each year and an annual retreat for all our leadership and staff to engage in strategic planning, education, team building and camaraderie. We manage and work together as a team of Board and staff. We are in search of our next Executive Director to join our team. Are you ready to take on the challenge of executive leadership in a growing and dynamic organization?
We seek someone with executive leadership experience in guiding a non-profit organization, or a major department in a large non-profit, in a productive, sustainable direction. We are looking for someone that has leadership skills to articulately guide the direction of our programs and member services and in doing so, demonstrates honesty, humility, transparency and respect when interacting with the Board, membership and staff.
We are seeking someone with various prerequisite skills and qualifications. How many of the items below can you check off as yours?
Excellent understanding of finance-related performance standards
Proven ability to develop and execute financial strategies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit and regulatory best practices
The ideal candidate is expected to have experience and knowledge to do the following:
Collaborate with the board of Directors to identify, create and implement strategic plans to actualize organization goals and objectives.
Manage, recruit, train and develop the talented team of employees who lead critical departments and manage strategic programs and operational functions.
Monitor organization operations and ensure employees and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
Manage the finances and budget.
Manage the resources of SDPA to create and operate within budgeted parameters and the approved budget.
Develop the organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization.
Develop partnerships with organization stakeholders, industry partners and other relevant parties.
Identify potential risks and opportunities within the organization and its environment to protect business interests.
Identify potential sources of investment and manage fund and income efforts.
Represent the SDPA at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand and communicate the organization’s message.
To qualify as a candidate you must meet the following:
Live within commuting distance of our office in Alexandria VA and must be able to travel 3 or 4 times per year.
Must have at least a master’s degree, preferably in healthcare or healthcare management related field
Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a senior management or Executive Director position in a non-profit organization
Must have experience preparing, managing and operating with a budget of at least $2 – 5 million.
Must have hands on experience with programs, conferences and meetings and direct knowledge of successful implementation.
The position will be a combination of both in-office work and remote.
