POSITION SUMMARY:
This person will apply project management skills to help execute virtual community programming for members, support ASSP volunteer leader groups, and coordinate data management for the Membership & Communities team. This individual will successfully manage multiple projects, be highly attentive to details and be able to readily adapt to change. This is a highly visible, member-facing position that requires strong verbal and written communication abilities and exemplary interpersonal skills focused on delivering a positive member experience.
The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is a global association for occupational safety and health professionals looking for a goal oriented self-motivated individual to join our team. The position reports to the Senior Manager Communities. We are headquartered in Park Ridge, Illinois. This role is eligible to work remote.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for coordinating volunteer initiated ASSP community virtual events, including event set-up and registration, promotion, speaker and leader preparation, and execution.
- Coordinates meetings of key volunteer groups like ASSP councils, past presidents/Fellows, and other specific task forces or committees as assigned. This will entail collaborating with volunteers and staff to coordinate schedules, develop meeting agendas, providing consistent communication related to the execution and outcome of these meetings, and support consistent messaging and identify intersection points across volunteer groups.
- Coordinates data management for the Membership & Communities team, including data entry, report preparation, Communities inbox and virtual community social media accounts maintenance.
- Support execution of awards and honors program, ensuring each award follows the established process, from nomination through award delivery and recognition.
- Participate on and support leader development projects and cross-functional project teams as assigned.
- Respond to and anticipate member needs to create a values-based experience that results in engaged members and advances ASSP’s strategic goals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some college preferred and 2 years of related or relevant experience required.
- Well-organized, self-directed and process/detail oriented. Project management skills are essential.
- Able to readily solve problems to address challenges or inefficiencies for best results.
- Excellent attention to detail and dedication to accuracy in work.
- Demonstrates leadership quality and a persistent self-motivator who can work with minimal oversight and achieve goals.
- Able to effectively execute multiple responsibilities.
- Experience working with GoToWebinars, Zoom or other online meeting platforms.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, with a high degree of working experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and OneDrive.
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

- Full-time positions with the ability to work M-F during normal business hours. May be expected to occasionally work outside of normal business hours. This is a non-exempt hourly position.
