The Database Specialist works primarily with SWANA’s iMIS database (desktop and RISE) of members, customers, and other contacts. By ensuring the quality and accuracy of the database and assisting in the timely and effective retrieval of data, the Database Specialist supports and enhances the efforts of all SWANA departments and services. The best person for this job will be accurate, detail-oriented, and focused on working with and solving the data needs of co-workers, all of whom are providing services and support to SWANA’s members and customers.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Develop, update and maintain accuracy of general database records.
Work with Database Administrator to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all database activities
Obtain corrected information and update records in response to returned mail, electronic “bounce backs,” and other feedback
Add new and update existing records as needed in response to staff requests, events, and other lead generation
Review existing and pending iMIS records for accuracy and duplication.
Participates in data validation and clean-up including but not limited to updating contact, financial, and activity records
In conjunction with other users, write, maintain and follow standards and procedures for iMIS data entry to ensure ongoing data integrity
Provide support to all SWANA departments and programs in fulfillment of data needs
Provide data extracts (prepare reports) for staff and departments requesting lists, statistics and development of mailings
Assist Database Administrator in the design, layout and functionality of Excel spreadsheets, SSRS reports, iMIS IQAs, and other systems that may be added
Work with cross-functional user teams and contractors to implement database and report upgrades
Routine monitoring and troubleshooting
Participate in testing system changes before they are moved to the Production environment
Routine monitoring that scheduled procedures are running correctly
Help identify and resolve systems and procedure errors and failures
Respond to Help Desk tickets as assigned

Associate degree or higher in related field
Proficiency with iMIS 20, both desktop and RISE
Demonstrated experience in creating and running IQAs
At least two years of full-time experience working with database maintenance and team support
Basic knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft software including Excel and Outlook
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient understanding of HTML
Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration, including but not limited to:
Writing, running and evaluating queries
Creating and editing stored procedures and triggers
Setting up scheduled jobs
Familiarity with HubSpot, SalesForce, or other customer relationship management systems
