The Executive Director (ED) shall manage and direct all activities of the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) as prescribed by the Board of Directors and shall be responsible to the Board; shall employ and may terminate the employment of members of the staff necessary to carry out the work of the organization; shall manage the approved budget; shall define the duties of the staff, supervise their performance, establish their titles and delegate those responsibilities of management as in their judgment, shall be in the best interest of IACS. The ED is the management leader of IACS. The ED is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and implementing the strategic plans of the organization. The ED reports to the President of IACS. This is a full-time, exempt salaried position.
Duties, Responsibilities and Authority: The ED is responsible for and has authority to accomplish the duties set forth below:
Responsible for all aspects of running the IACS office efficiently and effectively to carry out the mission and authority of IACS and maintaining relationships inside and outside the organization in furtherance of providing a positive image of IACS. Reports directly to the President of IACS.
Sees that the Board of Directors is kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of IACS, and on all important factors influencing them, in a timely way. Attends meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the staff, programs, and activities of IACS to assure that objectives are attained, plans fulfilled, and member needs met.
Responsible for the implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan, working closely with the Board of Directors, Committee Members, and Advisors to the President.
Recommends and participates in the formulation of policies and designs procedures to carry out those policies to implement the goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
Oversees and implements the organization's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Responsible for signing all contracts, agreements, and other instruments made and entered on behalf of the organization.
Obtains maximum utilization of staff by clearly defining their duties, establishing performance standards, conducting performance reviews, and maintaining a competitive a competitive salary structure.
Recruits, hires, trains, and motivates staff. Responsible for all staff promotions and terminations.
Provides the necessary liaison and staff support to committee chairs to enable them to properly perform their duties. Sees that committee decisions and recommendations are submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval.
Responsible for the planning, promotion, and administration of all official meetings of the organization.
At the time of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors' (AUCCCD) Conference, the Executive Director: submits program proposal; may participate as a presenter; arranges for meeting rooms and reception space; arranges for catering; presents draft agendas to the President and Vice President; provides Board meeting and program materials; registers for a booth and designs promotional materials to display; coordinates budget and all arrangements to meet objectives; and exercises control of conference budget and all arrangements to meet objectives.
Writes, distributes, and maintains official minutes of the Board of Directors and other official meetings of the organization.
Provides security for all files, legal and historic documents, membership and mailing lists.
Keeps historical information as needed, and purges excess, irrelevant and expired materials. Maintains files electronically and purges historical files.
Plans, writes, and executes all communications to the Membership which includes newsletters, general mailings, news releases, research reports, publications, etc.
Maintains the organization's website and carries out such other responsibilities as may be delegated by the Board of Directors.
Maintains effective relationships with other organizations, both public and private , and sees that the position of the Board and its Members is enhanced in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization.
Liaison between Site Visitors, Application Reviewers, and new applicant and accredited centers undergoing initial evaluation or re-evaluation reviews for IACS Accreditation.
Liaison between the Board of Directors and members of the public, accredited centers and those seeking accreditation.
Maintains relationships with other associations. industry, government, public service organizations and vendors as are desirable or necessary in the best interests of IACS and in conformity with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
Establishes such relationships as the Board of Directors may specify or as deemed advisable in the best interests of the Association.
Resolves any issues, answers questions and deals with any concerns from staff and supervisors of IACS accredited counseling services, and those individuals from centers interested in becoming accredited by IACS.
Develops annual budget with input from Treasurer, presents it to the Board of Directors, and upon approval, operates within the approved budget to ensure that all funds, physical assets, and other property of IACS is appropriately administered and safeguarded.
Continuously evaluates the financial statements, and budgeting process to increase operational efficiency, enhance internal controls and provide better information.
Works closely with the Consulting Accountant in his/her preparation of the Annual Financial Statement and all related financial and statistical reporting, including consultant's preparation of the Annual Federal 990 Tax Report.
Prepares and submits all monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state tax payments and reports.
performs all cash disbursements and monitors daily cash flow.
Utilizes the software program for all accounting and bookkeeping procedures and reports.
Ensures compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
Collects dues and terminates members.
Maintains the organization's Money Market account, which operates as the Association's checking account, and the IACS Reserve Fund, which is a mutual fund account.
Maintains working relationship with the Financial Advisor who monitors the Association's financial investments and advises the IACS Executive Director and Treasurer.
Background in college mental health, psychology and or non-profit organizations.
Transparent and high integrity leadership, positive attitude, mission driven, and self-directed.
Five or more years of senior non-profit management experience.
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
Experience with Accounting Software.
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
Strong time-management skills.
Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
Strong written and oral communication skills and strong public speaking ability.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
Ability to interface, engage, and motivate diverse volunteers.
Proven aptitude with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher) and database management software.
Ability to maintain a cloud management program.
Highly detailed-oriented and strong work ethic with a proven ability to meet deadlines along with being flexible with working hours when required.
