The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) is the premier non-profit organization representing professionals dedicated to treating female pelvic floor disorders. Founded in 1979, AUGS represents more than 1,900 members, including practicing physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nurses and health care professionals, and researchers from many disciplines. The Director, Membership and Marketing develops strategies and executes marketing, membership and patient education and awareness campaigns across multiple channels (email, web, social media, and direct mail), in alignment with the AUGS Strategic Plan. This position is a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Successful candidates will be able to think strategically and creatively, show attention to detail, and have strong project management skills.
Lead AUGS’ membership and marketing department, recommending, designing, implementing, and monitoring effective marketing strategies and communication activities for AUGS, the PFD Research Foundation and patient education initiatives in alignment with strategic plans, financial goals, and business objectives. This position leads efforts to demonstrate member value and increase engagement, revenue, and brand awareness at the strategic and tactical levels with other cross-functional teams.
Develops and implements multichannel marketing activities, to support strategic objectives such as increasing attendance at meetings and online educational programs and growing membership.
Develop membership recruitment and retention campaigns, benefits, and materials that ensure an active and growing membership
Analyze member/attendee data and feedback, and recommend strategies that enhance success of AUGS’ marketing messages and collateral
Engage with volunteers and assigned committees prior and during relevant conferences, meetings, task forces, panels, etc.
Coordinate media interest in AUGS and appropriate response to media inquiries.
Oversee development of annual marketing and membership budgets. Responsible for monitoring and forecasting budgets throughout the year. Oversee development of RFPs, review of bids and contracts for vendor services related to membership and marketing activities.
Hire, retain and coach competent, qualified marketing/membership staff. Foster a collaborative and proactive service orientation toward all areas and departments within AUGS.
Collaborate with the CEO and peer leaders to nurture a high functioning organizational culture, drive organizational-wide operational efficiencies, and develop employment policies and practices that enhance the AUGS employment experience.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in advertising/marketing, communications, non-profit management, or related field
Experience with marketing/member services, and social media/communications
Seven or more years’ experience in membership, marketing, and communications roles in healthcare/scientific membership association
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
Experience with membership databases and website content management systems
Comfortable using Zoom, Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, Cava and other relevant software
