This position is responsible for creating and implementing cohesive marketing strategies, internal and external communications, and public relations/media activities aimed at elevating NAPABA’s brand. This position is responsible for effectively communicating the value of membership, programs, events, and policy and advocacy initiatives across multiple channels to bolster NAPABA’s presence in the APA legal community, the APA advocacy community, and beyond. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position will ensure NAPABA’s brand, voice, and mission are clearly communicated in alignment with NAPABA’s organizational goals and strategic priorities. This position requires strict attention to detail and analysis using data to make decisions in the development of messaging and marketing campaigns and strategies. The position relies heavily on strong, collaborative relationships with staff members and stakeholders. A demonstrated commitment to, and familiarity with the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander advocacy ecosystem, and the APA legal community is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and implement traditional and digital marketing plans and strategies to demonstrate NAPABA’s value and priorities to internal and external stakeholders through innovative engagement strategies and storytelling.
Lead NAPABA’s initiatives on data visualization, which presents significant opportunities to socialize data in compelling and engaging ways in support of NAPABA’s strategic plan and priorities.
Develop creative assets to elevate NAPABA’s brand identity through consistent design and messaging
Develop and implement a targeted media and public relations plan, including managing media contacts, and pitching content, stories, and speakers.
Establish working relationships with communications staff at other legal and Asian Pacific American organizations, including other affinity bars, to launch coalition-style advocacy campaigns.
Set marketing goals for campaigns and evaluate success in reaching goals.
Synthesize and analyze marketing data to communicate the value and impact of marketing and to inform strategy.
Annually create and manage a strategic communication/marketing plan and track communication schedules to reduce the likelihood of overlapping messaging.
Collaborate across departments to write or copy-edit, manage, and execute email marketing campaigns, quarterly newsletter, organizational statements, and press releases.
Collaborate across departments to write and publish NAPABA social posts related to marketing membership, programs, events, and policy and advocacy initiatives.
Develop and implement strategies to grow engagement and enhance content for the quarterly membership newsletter.
Develop and update NAPABA’s website with compelling and dynamic content, enhance webpage presentation and design, and develop effective messaging for membership, programs, events, and policy and advocacy initiatives.
Manage website platform, assess functionality, and evaluate the needs of end-users.
Manage relationship(s) with website developer and other marketing and communication vendors.
Develop and monitor the marketing budget and demonstrate sound fiscal judgment in the use of all NAPABA resources and offer cost-saving alternatives.
Scale the department for future growth by creating templates, processes, and best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports directly to the Executive Director. Coordinates and collaborates with senior leadership, department heads, and external stakeholders to anticipate, design, and execute the most effective communications strategy and cadence.
The ideal candidate has a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field and three to five years’ experience in marketing or communications with an association or non-profit.
Ability to interact positively and effectively with a variety of audiences using written, verbal, and nonverbal communications.
Excellent writing and editing skills, strict attention to detail and highly organized.
Ability to respond and react to fast-breaking news events where NAPABA is expected to provide commentary, quotes, or explanation.
Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize workday.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use good judgment and work independently, accurately, and efficiently under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Willingness to learn new software platforms as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, Board leaders, members, and the public.
Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office, InDesign, and Photoshop.
Intermediate to advanced graphic design skills.
Experience with front-end HTML coding language and ability to troubleshoot coding and web application errors.
Remote work possible.
Must be physically located in the DC/VA/MD area and be present on-site and available throughout the Convention and other NAPABA events.
Travel is estimated at two to three weeks in a 12-month period.
SALARY & BENEFITS $70,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience.
