AOSSM has an immediate opening for a Member Services and Projects Coordinator to become a member of a high performing professional team comprising leaders in non-profit management that support and connect orthopaedic surgeons and other professionals through education and research to prevent and resolve sports injuries among active people of all ages and levels. AOSSM employs a collaborative, people first culture. This newly created position calls for an independent, proactive, problem-solving, diplomatic, multi-tasking professional.
This position is responsible for administrative activities associated with member services and facilitating the work of the Council of Delegates. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, supporting the Emerging Leaders Task Force, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force and other duties particularly around the annual meeting. This position within the Administration Team works closely with the Information Technology Team.
In collaboration with the Manager, Member Services and Projects, coordinates the membership application process, including distributing applications and collating required materials.
In collaboration with the Manager, Member Services and Projects, Marketing Communications Team and Information Technology team, participates in membership recruitment and retention campaigns, including:
supporting the annual dues renewal campaign
tracking of compliance with membership requirements
may participate in an annual data validation campaign
Communicates directly with members via email and phone regarding membership questions
Council of Delegates (CoD):
Serves as staff liaison to the CoD including:
Maintaining regular communication with the CoD Chair and Executive Committee
In collaboration with the Information Technology team, coordinates yearly election through electronic ballot
Developing agendas and inviting guests to twice yearly committee meetings
Corresponding with state delegates and others involved with the CoD
Developing and disseminating program materials, as
Writing clear, concise Board reports.
Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, supporting the Emerging Leaders and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Forces as well as support around the annual meeting.
Subject to change, this position may include travel to the Society’s Annual Meeting and the AAOS Annual Meeting.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills that enable work with medical professionals and administrative personnel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse professional audience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn other software.
Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with medical professionals
Ability to work independently while also effectively interacting and collaborating with individuals, service providers and organizations to achieve the organization’s goals
Education and Experience
Four-year degree (university) or equivalent experience preferred in healthcare, education, business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, science, or related educational field
Administrative support experience preferred
