Over 40 years ago, American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) was founded to advance the simple but then-radical idea that cancer could be prevented. AICR focused on the link between diet and cancer, and immediately began supporting cutting-edge research in this area and educating the public about the results. Today, we continue to fund research in the field of nutrition, physical activity and cancer prevention, treatment and survival.
Because cancer doesn’t stop at national borders and restrict itself to industrialized countries, we must study the disease and teach people how to prevent it on a global scale. That’s why AICR is a member of the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International network. AICR works side-by-side with WCRF International and is united through a shared vision.
