The Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) is seeking highly-motivated, detail-oriented candidates to join its micro-staff in the role of Student Programs Manager. This new position will be responsible for planning and executing all ILMEA Student Programs, in collaboration with the ILMEA Professional Staff and Volunteer Leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and manage the global calendar for all ILMEA Student Program events
Maintain working knowledge of current trends in meeting and event planning
Research and examine potential locations and partner sites for ILMEA Student Program events
Drive the vision and manage expansion of ILMEA Student Programs
Illinois Music Education Conference
Manage the performer application and selection process
Manage the communication and logistics for IMEC performing groups
Manage the All-State Student Programs
District Festival Assistance
Collaborate with the ILMEA District Presidents to plan and manage the ILMEA District Festival Series
Manage the listing of guest conductors and accompanists
Manage and oversee the ordering of music
Manage and oversee training for ILMEA judges
Plan and manage the ILMEA Adjudicated Events
Manage the relationship with venues and equipment providers
Communicate with all event attendees, judges and site staff
Inventory all ILMEA-owned equipment used in Student Programs
Create maintenance schedule
Manage necessary transportation
Illinois Music Honor Society
Work closely with volunteer leaders to manage this program
Participating School Management and Recruitment
Solicit Participating Schools
User support for the ILMEA Nomination Platform
Partner with LLT Group in development and maintenance of the Nomination Platform
Keep all necessary documentation for ILMEA Student Programs
Generate all necessary financial reports
Provide support to the Executive Director in managing the finances of all responsibility areas
Other Duties As Assigned
Compensation: The salary for this position will be based on experience. A Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Account and 403(b) with employer match program will also be included.
Reports to: This position reports to the Executive Director.
Supervision: This position does not have any staff reports. Volunteer and vendor management will be a large part of this position.
Location: ILMEA is located in Palos Heights, Illinois. Telecommuting is a possibility, with the understanding that in-person staff meetings will be required at least twice a month. The ILMEA office is a dog-friendly environment.
Travel: ILMEA is a state-wide association. This staff position will require travel to Student Programs, the Illinois Music Education Conference and other potential events. Travel will average 25 days per year with the bulk of this travel in Illinois.

Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of relevant professional experience
Highly Proficient in both the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; Must be willing to learn new technology platforms as needed
Prior experience in nonprofits or associations is preferred, but not required
Telecommuting is allowed.
