The position is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of the Plastic division’s content development strategy across multiple communications channels. The position is also responsible for coordinating with internal subject matter experts and other stakeholders, including understanding goals, messaging, and key audiences. The position is further responsible for independently developing content and placement strategies. The position works closely with Plastics division staff and the Communications department as well as other relevant stakeholders and reports directly to the Senior Director, Communications and Public Affairs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
? Produces, guides, and contributes to the production of a high-volume of timely, accurate, and relevant content to drive thought leadership, brand affinity, audience engagement, media placement, and online conversion on a variety of topics, issues and programs.
? Writes and edits clear and compelling content for programs and across various channels, including print, digital, video, web, and social media.
? Provides direction to writers and creative teams on the ideation, production, distribution, and promotion of content.
? Directs consultants and edits, reviews and coordinates the production of content generated by other staff and consultants.
? Assists Director of Media Relations in quickly drafting earned media placements and written responses, including op eds, letters to the editor, blog posts, and other formats.
? Develops and maintains strong working relationships with applicable ACC staff, member company representatives, consultants/vendors, and third-party allies.
? Reviews content for tone, voice, clarity and consistency of messaging.
? Ensures all content is on-brand; consistent in terms of style, quality and voice; up-to-date; and optimized for user experience across all channels (e.g., online, email, mobile, video, audio, graphics, etc.)
? Identifies trending topics in the media with the goal of joining conversations to articulate the applicable/relevant point of view.
? Performs other related duties as assigned.
? Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., journalism, communications, public relations, English, etc.).
? Eight years related experience in journalism, copy writing, corporate branding, publishing, advertising, public relations or content strategy.
? Demonstrated ability to write compelling and persuasive written content and direct graphic materials that promote industry positions, lead to media placements, and promote online engagement with various target audiences.
? Proven track record for outstanding written communications, proofreading and editing skills, and demonstrated experience in creating engaging online, news, social, and digital content.
? Superior writing skills, including the ability write with varying tone, and talent for distilling complex topics into clear, concise written communications.
? Demonstrated ability to drive key online metrics tied to awareness and conversion.
? Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
? Ability to use independent judgment in evaluating situations/issues.
? Ability to prioritize multiple projects and requests, and coordinate across multiple subject matter experts, departments and organizations.
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign/Adobe design platforms, internet research applications, media monitoring software, and press/media/newswire services.
