About: The Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) was founded in 1939, and is a non-partisan, national academic association of college faculty that supports research and teaching in the field of political science and government. The MPSA publishes one of the top journals in the discipline, the American Journal of Political Science. With a membership of about 6,500 and a conference of about 5,000, it is one of the largest academic political science associations. The MPSA has a staff of about nine FTE.
Location: MPSA has allowed staff to work remotely for the past eight years and has employed staff throughout the US, as well as other countries. The MPSA closed its physical office in 2020 and is now entirely virtual; all staff work remotely with home office expenses subsidized by the MPSA. This provides staff flexibility, however experience working virtually is preferred.
The MPSA Annual conference is held in April in Chicago (through 2029) and all staff must attend and work the week of the conference.
Job Description: This position is responsible for the overall integrity, administration and support of MPSA’s Association Management System (CRM/AMS). In collaboration with the Conference, Accounting, Marketing and Membership teams, this role will contribute to the execution of association sales, marketing, product training and data analysis. The role is responsible for CRM/AMS management, configuration, operation, maintenance and user training, along with data cleanliness, reports and dashboards.
The systems administrator will work with marketing to use the CRM/AMS to identify target marketing leads; our accountant on MPSA member payment reconciliation and financial reporting; and members to assist with technical issues, proposal submission, errors, and login issues.
This position will be 100% FTE (40 hours per week) and includes a very generous benefits package. It is an hourly, non-exempt position. The hourly rate will be competitive and will depend on the qualifications of the candidate. This position reports to the MPSA IT Director. In addition to other duties as assigned, this position will be responsible for the following tasks.
Administer the Salesforce.com CRM/AMS:
Create reports and dashboards, including accounting
Create new users and profiles
Product and price book setup
Maintain marketing database (data loader)
Assist Marketing Department with data segmentation and automation (using Pardot)
De-dupe and update customer records as necessary (using Demand Tools)
Attend and work the annual MPSA conference each April in Chicago
Assist with conference IT/AV needs
2 years of Salesforce administration experience required, including financial reporting
Salesforce Certified Administrator or Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator preferred
Pardot experience preferred
Demand tools experience preferred
Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, required
3 years of office experience preferred; experience working remotely preferred
Experience working for an association, non-profit organization or in an academic environment preferred
Good written and verbal communication, with an emphasis on customer service
Work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively, in a deadline driven environment
Accurate data entry is essential to this position, as well as data hygiene experience
Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
