The professional in this position has responsibilities in three major categories:
Working closely with department heads, the UX/Web Services Programmer, will be responsible for planning, creating, editing, and enhancing public-facing applications/services such as the VPPPA (www.vpppa.org) website. This role will ensure that web content meets the needs and interests of website visitors and monitors visitor behavior by reviewing website statistics. This role will ensure those website style guidelines are consistently implemented across all web pages.
Responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing,and maintaining web-based application systems, such as user interface, e-commerce applications, site animation, etc.
Troubleshoots and solve software issues.
Researches technical problems and suggests improvements for web applications.
Analyzes and integrates new web products\technologies with existing web applications to improve the web design and application functionality.
Collaborates with department directors to plan, create, edit and publish information on the VPPPA website.
Ensures final web product is correct by continuously reaching out for feedback from department directors throughout the production process.
Contacts content contributors to find out if the material needs to be updated and encourages contributors to supply new content to keep the website fresh for returning visitors.
Drafts concise technical specifications for needed functional website development.
Optimizes online content to help improve search rankings and user engagement.
Must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Knowledge of one or multiple commonly-used web developing languages (e.g. HTML, Java, PHP, JSP, ASP.Net, Python, AJAX) is necessary
UX Design, API
Advanced understanding of the unique requirements of writing for the web such as the use of keywords, hyperlinks, navigation, and the importance of brevity
Ability to offer creative solutions
Knowledge of MemberClicks or other membership management software desired

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Design or related field
4-6 years of experience using web content management systems to update online content required.
Experience in non-profit or membership association preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, speak, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office environment. There are close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required of up to 10 pounds.
During conferences and events, longer work hours are expected, with many hours standing or walking. This setting may also require lifting up to 20 pounds.
Travel is minimal in this position but the person in this role will be expected to travel to the annual national conference.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience. VPPPA offers a generous benefits package, leave allowance, and telework options. While we are currently working remotely this position would need to be in the physical office at least once a week when we reopen.
