The Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) is seeking an innovative, driven Manager of Membership Development (MMD).
About the Position
In collaboration with the CEO and VP, the MMD is responsible for development, promotion and direction of all programs and services that foster and enhance membership / partnership within the association.
The MMD also develops strategy, provides direction, planning, implementation and measurement of membership / partnership programs and initiatives, and works with staff to meet the goals in the Association’s strategic plan.
The MMD will:
Create new membership / partnership opportunities and implement member acquisition and retention campaigns to achieve sustainable growth. Oversee the development of potential member sources and lists.
Develop and maintain close communication with members that will encourage engagement and ongoing membership in the Association.
Involve members in ongoing dialogue regarding industry issues and Association services.
Establish systems to acquire in-depth information / demographics on members and member companies in order to improve Association services to them.
Research the needs and interests of companies in all segments of the industry, and develop new organizational structures, products, and services to serve all categories of members and partners and potential members and partners.
Represent the Association as directed at national and/or regional conferences and other events, serving in a public relations role.
Membership Strategy and Development
Develop and implement programs that increase understanding of the services and resources of the Association in a way that increases utilization and positively impacts member / partner satisfaction.
Research opportunities for outreach and member recruitment through allied professional associations, regional conferences and trade shows, and other related organizations.
Develop and implement strategies to maximize the retention of active members / partners and the re-enrollment of lapsed members and partners.
Work with Member Services Assistant on processes, providing direction as needed.
Work with Manager of Marketing and Communication (MMC) to produce effective member recruitment and collateral materials.
Develop and direct the new member and partner welcome processes, including welcome emails, and new member / partner kits.
In collaboration with the MMC increase member engagement within the Association via social media outreach, contests, and other actions and activities.
Assist in creation of networking events and creative member engagement opportunities.
Backup to primary user in maintaining membership records.
Monitor membership information and reports
Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, business, public relations, marketing, English, or related field a related discipline.
And a minimum of three or more years of experience in association membership, marketing, and/or comparable experience in marketing and promotion required. Experience in a non-profit organization or in an aging field a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven track record of working with members, volunteer leaders, committees and/or clients
Strategic and creative thinking skills combined with project management ability and demonstrated leadership
Experience working within databases, specifically iMIS, highly desirable.
Strong sales background with a concentration in acquiring new business is preferred.
Significant CRM experience, including but not limited to designing, running, and analyzing reports related to member activity
Consumer marketing knowledge and experience including social media, web, and print
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and effective messages to various audiences
Ability to collaborate while also demonstrating strong leadership and initiative
Skills in Microsoft Office products
Some travel required
