The University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) is searching for a Director of Membership and Marketing. URMIA is the higher education risk management association located in Bloomington, IN. We have a small and nimble staff that gets a lot done. As a staff position in URMIA, the director of membership and marketing is responsible for:
1) Leading the day-to-day operation of the association, including updating member records, registration, and answering member questions/answering the main phone line 2) Implementing the organization’s member recruitment & retention plans and programs 3) Managing marketing activities for programs and services related to the association’s membership and events 4) Review of and overall responsibility for all Association mass internal and external communication efforts including emarketing, collaborating on event and webpage language and news releases.
Membership Services & Support
+Lead the day-to-day operation of the association, including updating member records, registration, and answering member questions
+Support member needs with Association Management System (AMS)
+Manage data integrity in AMS and perform data checks
o Maintain standard operating procedures and training materials for AMS
+Create and oversee the annual dues billing and communication schedule to implement and complete the process
+Oversee new member (onboarding) including but not limited to:
o Monitor automated communications regularly and check that this is operating successfully. Update as needed.
o Serve as liaison between newcomer planning group and national office.
+Assist with session development and planning of Newcomers experience at annual conference.
o Provide orientation for new members through the development of webinars and other communication avenues
Assist in running and planning the annual conference and regional events with URMIA national office on and off site. For the annual conference:
o Manage the newcomer welcome area
o Manage the annual conference raffle
+Oversee all membership communications
o Lead the membership campaigns for recruitment and retention
o Create and implement marketing campaign to attract potential new members to annual and regional conferences
+Create and implement membership conversion strategy for non-members who attend URMIA events
+Oversee URMIA communications plan/calendar across all channels for nurturing member recruitment and renewal, professional development events, special mini-campaigns, and other situations
+Create and schedule all marketing emails
+Edit conference and virtual presentation submissions, and other writing, as requested
+Update content on Higher Logic Platform including events calendar, homepage rotating announcements, and post weekly URMIA National Office update for All Member Community
+Oversees testimonials “database” and usage tracking.
+Maintain URMIA Communications Policy and Practices document
+Maintain internal marketing procedures
+Work with consultants on video and graphic production and Insights (enewsletter) as needed
+Create reports for stakeholders
+Support all activities of URMIA’s mission and strategic plan
+Assume other duties that may be assigned
+Develop and train all new staff on membership and marketing/communications
+Manage two e-mail addresses for National Office by responding to various internal and external inquiries and routing to appropriate employees when needed
+Maintain liaison relationship with Gamma Iota Chapter (student org for risk management)
Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or related field
Four-year degree or Masters in business, marketing, communications, public relations or related field
Previous membership and marketing experience and the ability to effectively plan and communicate. Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office and Adobe products and emarketing experience needed. Must exhibit strong organizational qualities, be self-directed, demonstrate resourceful troubleshooting skills, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Have a demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively, set goals and objectives, and work as a team
Association or similar non-profit experience, past experience working with volunteer driven committees
Licenses or Certifications
Continuing education courses and workshops
Writing and editing skills required. Word processing, web editing, and desktop publishing experience required as well as experience in the Adobe suite
Insurance, Higher Education Risk Management, Association Membership and Marketing, Higher Logic platform use and MemberSuite AMS experience
Demonstrated ability in managing multiple production schedules. Experience in setting and meeting specific event and membership goals as well as self-evaluation and assessment. Experience in managing volunteers and other staff in relation to and marketing.
A good driving record is required in order to conduct business on the job through travel, etc.
Ability to manage others including off-site group of volunteers.
