Who we are looking for: ASCO is in search of a high performing Associate Director, Licensing and Business Development to be the relationship owner/leader and provide oversight of global sales representation for meeting and educational, branded and non-branded content contributing to the revenue and customer service goals of the Licensing team. Responsibilities - Oversee business relationships and negotiate contracts in selected territories to include contract drafting and review for accuracy
- Maintain strong relationships and communications with staff at all levels of the organization in order to optimize licensing outcomes and the two-way flow of product and licensing information
- Devise standardization of licensed content in compliance with licensing standards
- Oversee pricing consistency and documentation of precedents
- Oversee annual licensing budget process with input from licensing team
- Lead business development activities, e.g., qualify international business leads and opportunities to lead in business development activities that align with Licensing team’s strategic goals
- Lead sales training and ensure product knowledge for licensing staff and licensees
- Coordinate licenses with outside vendor(s) to include ASCO journals content
- Develop presentations for the executive leadership team and other important stakeholders
- Use business development expertise to help develop and execute on corporate, partnering, and licensing strategies, to span generating/assembling documents and conducting business related research
- Develop risk assessments and mitigation plans associated with licensing/acquisition deals
- Possibly supervise one or more direct reports at a later time
Required Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8 – 10+ years’ of experience in a combination of business development, licensing and sales
- Business experience in negotiations, contracts, budgeting, and sales representation
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Proficiency with CRM and teleconferencing software, e.g., Zoom, Teams Meeting, etc.
Preferred Education and Experience - Master’s degree, MBA, J.D., or other graduate degree in business/marketing, paralegal/law or finance
- Familiarity with international business practices and customs
- Supervisory experience
- Senior executive management presentation experience desired
