Principal Responsibilities All of the listed responsibilities are as directed by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, and in collaboration with an external digital marketing firm, where appropriate. Marketing Strategy and Operations - Develop and operationalize a marketing strategy to promote ISMA as the premier association for senior security executives from around the world, raising the association’s profile within the wider security and business communities and to prospective members, and positioning it as a thought leading organization.
- Manage all the association’s online and social media platforms.
- Write and deliver content for the website, social media channels, promotional materials, email campaigns, and other marketing-related projects.
- Develop, launch, and oversee branding, recruitment, and promotional campaigns.
Data Analysis and Reporting - Continually research and analyze market trends, demographics, prospective member pool and other customers, and competitors.
- Track all marketing and sales data and create detailed written reports and verbal presentations for the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators for the performance of marketing campaigns and other efforts.
- Adjust marketing campaigns and strategies as needed in response to collected data and other feedback.
Budgeting - Work with the Executive Director to develop an annual marketing budget.
- Monitor the budget throughout the year and report to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors regarding budget performance and return on investment for marketing and branding efforts.
Committee Support - Liaise with committees when marketing efforts have a nexus with committee remit and activities.
- Under the guidance of the Executive Director, act as the staff lead for the Recruitment Committee.
Events - Work closely with the Director of Education to market and promote ISMA events and other products.
- Travel to ISMA conferences and other events and promote them, as appropriate, on the website and social media platforms.
External and Member Communications and Engagement - Working with other staff, manage external and internal email campaigns from the association, including those to members and prospective members, external partners, and the media.
- Draft and distribute press releases.
- Work with members to develop and write thought leadership pieces for placement in industry and business publications.
Recruitment - Leverage the marketing strategy to identify and recruit new members.
- Perform research on and identify prospective members to develop a pipeline for ISMA’s recruitment efforts; develop and maintain a database of the same.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators for the performance of marketing campaigns as they relate to new member recruitment.
Other - Collaborate and effectively work with other staff, ISMA members, committees, volunteers, and third parties as individuals and in team-based situations.
- ISMA is a small staff organization, so the Marketing Coordinator must be willing to support the association in any way required and directed by the Executive Director, including administrative tasks and event support.
Requirements - A degree in Marketing or related field.
- The ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
- The attitude required to work in a small staff environment.
- Demonstrable experience in marketing together with the potential and attitude required to learn.
- Strong writing ability and the ability to communicate with executive-level audiences.
- Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers and making sense of metrics.
- Basic graphic design ability.
- Understanding of Content Management Systems and basic website management experience.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of LinkedIn tools and strategies for marketing and recruitment.
- Proficient in email campaigns, email marketing automation, and best practices for growing email marketing lists.
- Experience with an Association Management Software system or database.
Desired Skills - Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).
- Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords and LinkedIn ad campaigns.
- Some proficiency in HTML.
