POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for maintaining a portfolio of approximately 80-100 corporate and foundation prospects and donors who are making or are capable of making grants in support of BrightFocus Foundation and its programs. The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations ensures that grant proposals and follow-up reports are submitted, after review by Senior Vice President, Development and when appropriate, the Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, in a timely and comprehensive manner consistent with the requirements of the organization. In addition, he/she is responsible for identifying opportunities for grant submissions to new foundations and corporations. The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations works closely in support of the Senior Vice President, Strategic Relations and the Director of Strategic Partnerships to provide them the material and proposals they need in the course of managing their portfolios. The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for representing and managing BrightFocus’ involvement with the Combined Federal Campaign/State & Local Giving Campaigns, and Private Sector Employee Giving. This position oversees and implements the Employer Matching Gift program with Double the Donation. Additionally, the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations supports individuals in creating third-party personal fundraisers for BrightFocus or one of its programs. DUTIES, RESPONSIBLITIES, AND FUNCTIONS: - Prepare proposals as needed for the Senior Vice President, Development and the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, and their respective gift officers.
- Submit approximately 80-100 proposals and letters of inquiry annually to foundations and corporations and as many annual reports and other cultivation/stewardship material to these same foundations and corporations as required by funder.
- Work with Scientific Affairs and Public Affairs to craft proposals and budgets to support ongoing research and public awareness activities.
- In consultation with the Senior Vice President, Development, the Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, and the Development Research Associate, identifies new corporate and foundation suspects – and develops effective cultivation and solicitation strategies in concert with the appropriate SVP’s.
- In cooperation with the Development Team, plan and implement communication schedules with corporate and foundation funders.
- Ensure all information is up-to-date in BrightFocus’ data management system, (DMI).
- Lead all aspects of creating and submitting 6- to 8- figure corporate and foundation grant proposals, including writing, preparing support documentation, timely reporting progress, managing deliverables and maintaining professional relationships with corporate and foundation program officers before, during and after grant cycles.
- Manage Alzheimer’s Disease Research’s application and participation in the Combined Federal Campaign/State & Local Giving Campaigns and Private Sector Employee Giving campaigns – attending at least five (5) CFC events during the fall campaign.
- Maintain relationships with America’s Charities representatives and submit complete applications for federal, state, local, and private giving campaigns to America’s Charities by their strict deadlines.
- Supervise a new CFC advertising campaign each year and collaborate with Public Affairs for charity fair giveaways, new social media content, digital and print imaging, and blog post.
- Manage the Employer Matching Gift Program, including implementation, integration, communication schedule, etc.
- Support individuals in planning and implementing third-party personal fundraisers on behalf of BrightFocus or one of its programs, including the creation of marketing materials, shipping public awareness publications, producing acknowledgements, and cultivation and stewardship of individuals pre- and post-event.
- Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
