ASHA’s Director of Education Policy, serves as ASHA’s primary analyst and advocate regarding federal education policy before the Department of Education. The Director’s focus is to support access to audiology and speech-language pathology services on behalf students with and without disabilities. The Director works on legislative and regulatory policy development and responds to public comments regarding special education, general education and higher education issues applicable to audiology and speech-language pathology clinicians and those they serve. The Director serves on ASHA’s collaborative 8 person Health Care & Education Policy Team and interacts closely with State Affairs and Federal Affairs Teams within ASHA’s Government Affairs & Public Policy group. They represent ASHA externally with like-minded national organizations, groups and coalitions such as the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) Education Taskforce.
