Association Management Center seeks a Senior Education Manager to serve as the Director of Professional Development to our client, Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, (ARN). This senior leader will provide strategic direction, leadership and management of ARN’s educational opportunities, professional resources, content and other programs that will add value to the organization. The position will work closely with volunteers and staff to support the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. Must be adept at being both a team leader and supportive mentor. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.
ARN is a specialty nursing organization composed of professional nurses who help individuals affected by chronic illness or physical disability adapt to their disabilities, achieve their greatest potential, and work toward productive, independent lives. ARN has approximately 5,000 members and is valued for its educational offerings, including the annual conference and certification program.
Responsibilities: Work closely with committee chairs, subject matter experts, staff and consultants to advance long-term strategies of ARN’s education programs and content that improves patient outcomes in compliance with American Nurses Credentialing Center. (ANCC)
Develop ARN’s Educational/Content Strategy, including plan and timeline, that identifies and assesses new programs and products that diversify the associations’ revenue sources and help translate strategic priorities into marketable products and services. Oversee the program and product development pipeline from idea generation to end of the life cycle.
Research, review, and analyze new education products, programs, content and services including opportunity assessments, market research, competitive analysis, member and other customer needs assessment and financial feasibility. Based on this, create business plans and detail the steps of implementation.
Identify gaps in offerings mapped to the rehabilitation nursing competency model; analyzes data to identify unmet needs and new audiences, performance of current educational activities against audience satisfaction and financial targets and conduct competitive analyses.
Provide direction and oversight for implementation and evaluation of programs and activities; prepare annual budgets; monitor and track expenses for each activity; review evaluation data to improve existing programs; set project timelines and goals for activities and monitor progress toward revenue and participation goals.
Work with committees, volunteers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop a new educational program content utilizing relevant, innovative educational access media (e.g. in-person and virtual training courses, online CE learning, interactive learning engagement, etc.) Work with staff from various internal departments and cross-functional teams to explore and define business plan elements, including metrics to measure of success, timelines, and resource requirements.
Direct activities to assure compliance with ARN’s policies and procedures, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) criteria, standards and policies. Maintain accreditation, oversee development and maintenance of all necessary documentation, including policy and procedure manuals to meet accreditation, funding and other reporting requirements.
Understand and be adept at incorporating new or existing technologies.
Develop methodology to regularly perform life-cycle review of programs/products to identify assessment criteria including success factors, improvements to be made and lessons to be learned.
Supervise and coach education staff in work directives, goal setting and evaluation.
Support the marketing staff with the creation of marketing plans for products and services. Elements include market segmentation, value proposition development, product positioning, pricing strategy, and communications strategy.
Keep abreast of current developments and best practices in educational program and product development and delivery. Translate ideas into actionable activities.
Prepare written reports that detail business strategy, plans and results. Monitor and report on performance milestones and annual budgets across new and existing business initiatives. Develop reporting mechanisms such as performance dashboards and business plan formats conducive to quick and easy Board review.
Attend and represent ARN at its annual conference, board meetings, educational events and other select conferences as necessary. Performance of other duties as determined appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree (RN or Master’s degree preferred), and five years of experience with adult educational learning, program/product development, continuing professional education, and program planning/management role preferably in healthcare, academic setting, nonprofit association, or a medical specialty.

Knowledgeable about ANCC accreditation requirements and compliance, preferred.

Knowledge of implementation and management of contemporary professional development, continuing education, e-learning, publishing and other content delivery methods is necessary.
