This is a hands-on role that independently manages distinct organizational projects as well as guiding a small team of project managers, ensuring excellent project health and delivery through a combination of project management best practices, process improvement, and widespread optics into project health. Through natural leadership strengths, the Senior Manager, PMO Operations will contribute purposefully to a high-achieving PMO team and department culture that goes above and beyond to deliver excellent results.
PMO Operations Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a passion for crushing lung disease and embody CHEST values: honor the team, lead with integrity, leverage passion, cultivate innovation, and have serious fun.
Champion best-practice project methodologies. Develop and implement improvements to processes and methodologies when needed including the incorporation of Agile and other evolving methodologies when appropriate. Establish and implement ambitious yet achievable objectives, standards, and project work plans.
Ensure all green-lit projects include all necessary components for success, including project charters outlined in collaboration with key stakeholders, clearly-defined high level and detailed RACI matrixes, detailed work and resource allocation plans, communication plans, change management plans, and other key files that provide clarity around project objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
Monitor and support day-to-day project team operations for all PMO-led projects, whether independently-led or lead by a PMO team member. Communicate project risks and work to resolve issues. Drive resource planning. Ensure deployment, maintenance, execution, and continuous improvement of project performance monitoring and control capabilities via variance reporting, risk and issues management, and change control. Serve as initial escalation point.
Serve as technical resource for IT related projects, including internal system launches and other related projects.
Lend support and resources to launching, monitoring and executing non-PMO led projects, and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure coordination of methodology, practices, and artifacts throughout the project life cycle.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project management systems, ensuring staff receive proper training and ongoing support. Monitor projects, ensuring consistent set-ups and maintenance of custom fields/metrics for proper analysis and reports. Track staff usage, and understand adoption.
Develop, maintain and ensure accuracy and timely distribution of all project-based reports, key metrics, dashboards, and consolidated project calendars, giving all key stakeholders, project leads, and leadership necessary information to understand project health and current resource allocation.
Collaborate with the leader of PMO and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are aligned with business goals, organizational strategy, and are prioritized appropriately.
Attract, train, develop, manage, and retain high performing staff and contractors as needed. Champion, model, and coach direct and indirect reports to build a high performing team culture. Lead and engage staff in continuous improvement.
Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the organization in order to understand their business needs and align the PMO.
Assist Senior Director, PMO on the development of departmental business plans, goals, budget and initiatives.
Lead large, cross-functional initiatives or implementations as needed.
Serve as backup to the leader of PMO.

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field or commensurate experience.
3-5 years of experience in a management/leadership role, preferably in project management or enterprise business analysis.
3-5 years of experience with the execution of large-scale concurrent projects; demonstrated success at project management and business analysis in the execution of concurrent projects.
Working knowledge of project management and business analysis principles, such as those defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK), and with various Agile methodologies.
Strong proficiency with project management tools such as Wrike, SmartSheets, JIRA, etc.
Familiarity with software and data analytics, and the ability to work closely with technical resources.
Ability to carry out multiple tasks and direct multiple projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
Certification in Project Management (i.e. PMP, Scrum)
Certification in Business Analysis (i.e. CBAP)
Change Management Certification/Training
Active participation in professional groups (i.e. IIBA, PMI, Scrum Alliance)
Attendance at well recognized industry conferences related to Healthcare, Health Insurance, and Project Management, or Business Analysis (i.e. HIMSS, BBC (IIBA), PMI Conferences, AHIP)
