The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an energetic, detail-oriented candidate for our Quality Coordinator – Measure Development position.
This position will primarily support the AUA’s measure development and evaluation efforts and works closely with the Data Team on measures inclusion in the AQUA Registry. Additionally, this position supports other department initiatives, such as the QI Summit and monitoring federal policy related to quality initiatives.
The individual in this position will:
Assists in the development of a sound methodology and processes to improve AUA’s performance measurement development strategy and processes.
Manage panels to oversee measure development for the AQUA Registry, Alternative Payment Models, and Advancing Care Information; lead efforts in developing measure concepts, prioritization, development, testing and implementation of performance measures.
Responds to internal staff as well as to AUA membership with regard to measure specification questions and inquiries.
Support panels in staff liaison role to the measures panels, including identifying panel members, communicating with panels through conference call and email, setting up meetings, maintaining all records of measure development meetings.
Develop, maintain, and update technical specifications for measures annually, documentation for data collection, measure development methodology, and reporting measures. Provide support for testing the validity and reliability of new and existing measures contained in the AQUA Registry.
Maintains statistics on measure use both within the AQUA Registry and by external organizations.
Assist in managing submission of measures through NQF endorsement, as appropriate, and to CMS for inclusion in QDCR and MIPS reporting.
Maintain a database of all relevant measures for urologists. Monitor measure performance in the AQUA Registry, analyzing data trends to determine gaps in care, areas for quality improvement, topped out measures, and challenges with measures
Develop relationships and collaborations with other organizations involved in physician performance, quality, outcome measures, and patient safety.
Participate in external Technical Expert Panels on measurement and measure development and evaluation to ensure AUA’s status and expertise as a measure developer.

To be Successful
Candidates must be able to provide superior service delivery while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have strong knowledge of quality improvement, organizational and communication skills. In addition:
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree in public health or science/health care-related field preferred
4 years of experience with quality measure development and stewardship with expertise in statistics, risk adjustment, composite and electronic measures, and survey research
Understanding and knowledge of the health care industry, private and academic practice environments, and physician performance and quality improvement programs required
Knowledge of quality measurement and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) processes
Experience with data, data management, and clinical registries or other data bases
Expertise with project management
Experience working with physicians and multi-stakeholder committees
Travel for this position is minimal including to our Washington, DC office. Occasional weekend work and weekly evening conference calls may be required.
