The American Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness and the development of standards.
This position provides ADA staff and outside organizations (including Congress) with analyses of, and proposed responses to, federal legislation and regulations and drafts proposed legislation to address issues affecting the public's oral health and/or to promote the art and science of dentistry. This position also manages the operations of the Council on Government Affairs (CGA) and has responsibility for managing three individuals who lobby the federal agencies; and a senior project assistant. This role will occasionally serve as back-up to the SVP, Government Affairs at internal meetings and managing the office.
Minimum of 10 years of experience working on Capitol Hill with complex regulatory issues and agencies, or with Associations.
Excellent oral/written interpersonal communications; analytical, planning, management, problem-solving and political acumen skills.
Practical knowledge of Association operations and activities.
Knowledge of legislative and regulatory process.
Must have the ability to build relationships and to follow projects and issues from inception to completion.
