Association Management Center is seeking a CMP-designated Meetings Executive Director experienced in planning and executing successful events and conferences to lead our Meetings Team. This individual oversees and participates in planning events, including conferences, educational courses, and board of directors meetings. This role is responsible for fostering AMC’s strategy around customer intimacy focused on collaborating with internal association teams through customized approaches, creativity, and innovation. The role includes building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing staff growth and development, and P&L responsibility related to the meetings team and for internal association meetings and events.
Oversee the conception, development, and execution of successful and highly regarded meetings and events.
Build and cultivate strong relationships with internal association teams to identify strategies for creating and managing meetings and other events that support association goals and provide positive experiences for attendees.
Create plans that support the strategies, including tactics and a process for engaging internal teams and other stakeholders.
Work in partnership with internal association teams to create annual budgets for their meetings and events. Provide data regarding actual staff time versus budget and develop scope of work and related hours/cost for the upcoming year.
Responsible for meetings department P&L, including budget development and oversight, as well as allocating and monitoring staff hours.
Recruit, lead, develop, and mentor a team of top-notch meetings and events professionals.
Collaborate with members of the meetings team to align their strengths, skills, and passions with the assigned work to foster satisfaction, engagement, and a thriving and productive team.
Foster a customer-centric approach with the meetings team that centers on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, innovation, and sharing new ideas with internal association teams and others.
Create trusted relationships with key association executives; identify and track quality measures for analysis, reporting, and forecasting; monitor client satisfaction; and focus on continuous improvement.
Establish effective planning and production processes for events, including working with AV providers, AMC service teams, hotel professionals, and others.
Create and monitor an ROI process for meetings and events for internal associations.
Negotiate contracts with event-related companies, vendors, and other external partners who support AMC client meetings to leverage economies of scale and meet association budgets. Train meetings staff on contract negotiation.
Meet travel requirements for client and industry-related meetings.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in event management or related field.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation required. Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible meeting and staff management experience. Previous work experience for a volunteer-based organization preferred.

Diplomatically astute, emotionally intelligent, and able to appreciate varying perspectives.
Budget development and management experience, including analyzing trends and forecasting. Active and invested member of the meeting planning industry.
Ability to travel out of state and overnight
