The Technical Director is a subject matter expert who provides direct technical support to the NEBB technical committees, Certified Firms, Certified Professionals and NEBB staff. This position develops technical content under the guidance of the NEBB Technical Committees, including procedural standards, training programs (online and class-based), certification, technical articles, white papers, and other initiatives requiring subject matter expertise. This position reports to the Executive Vice President.
Abilities & Experience
This position requires in-depth subject matter expertise in building systems testing and analysis including testing adjusting and balancing (TAB) of indoor environmental systems. This position also requires an understanding of processes used for development of consensus-based standards, preferably to include familiarity and experience with such operations in an ANSI-accredited environment. Excellent writing and editing ability are essential, as is the ability to deliver instructional material in classroom and online formats. This position requires the ability to work as part of a collaborative team that includes volunteer subject matter experts and non-technical staff. Ability to travel required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with assigned Technical Committees to coordinate, write, edit, and maintain uniform procedural standards for all NEBB disciplines
Works with assigned Technical Committees to coordinate, write, edit, and maintain technical manuals and training programs, including online training programs and recertification seminars that can be used by NEBB chapters
Develops online training programs that can be used by customer audiences for continuing education purposes.
Works with Technical Committees to prepare, maintain and administer written and practical certification exams
Writes and edits technical articles for the NEBB Professional and other industry journals, as well as white papers designed to support NEBB’s technical and marketing objectives
Works with Technical Committees to coordinate the annual seminar schedule, make arrangements, provide on-site support, and instruct seminars on an as-needed basis
Coordinates instrument updates and changes for the Technical Committees
Provides technical advice to affiliated firms and design engineers concerning NEBB procedures, instrument usage and common practices
Makes technical presentations at internal and external NEBB events, as well as at selected trade shows and conventions
Responsible for the coordination of the quarterly Committee Chair Meeting, including the agenda and meeting minutes
Provides periodic reports and briefings to NEBB stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
Develops proposals to introduce technical initiatives that may benefit NEBB Firms
Responsible for overseeing NEBB TEC and related technical seminars, which include hands-on training development
Point of Contact for T24 Program. Will lead with the execution of this project both internally and externally.
Responsible for Firm Recertification review and audit
Monitors, maintains and ensure quick updates to the instruments within Certelligence
Serve as NEBB Secretariat for all NEBB ANSI standards
Execution of special projects requested by the Executive Vice President
Technical understanding of NEBB disciplines and instruments
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Self-motivated with proficiency in multi-tasking and prioritizing several simultaneous projects
