The organization has a small, cohesive staff and is looking for a team player. This newly created position will work with staff members to advance ILA initiatives and also faces outward, working with members and stakeholders. The Communication and Engagement Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase member and potential member awareness of the association’s benefits, services and initiatives and increase engagement with ILA. Reports to the Deputy Director. Areas of responsibility include:
Implement strategies to increase awareness of and engagement with ILA programs, events, and services among current members of all types, working in collaboration with staff managers of these initiatives.
Work with Membership Services Manager to identify opportunities to grow membership and increase retention of current members.
Develop and produce ILA communications materials, including the ILA e-news, web content, promotional publications, and messaging.
Develop and enhance ILA’s social media strategy, and engage a group of social media ambassadors to amplify the ILA message.
Manage ILA’s awards program to increase awareness of these opportunities and bring additional recognition to the winners and sponsors.

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and three to five years of experience in community engagement is required. Background in library and information science, nonprofits, and/or associations is a plus.
Facility in and understanding of current social media environments, and willingness and ability to research emerging ones.
Ability to engage the full diversity of ILA membership and potential membership across the state, including members from traditionally underrepresented populations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small staff team and with the broader membership.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and visual creativity.
Ability to work well under pressure, to meet deadlines while making sound decisions, and to accommodate shifting priorities.
Ability to travel to meetings.
Additional Salary Information: Negotiable from $50,000 plus full benefits
