Membership Specialist-Law Schools, Law Students, and Engagement for the American Association for Justice
The American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA®), is seeking to fill a Membership Specialist-Law Schools, Law Students, and Engagement position in the Membership Department. AAJ seeks to promote a fair and effective civil justice system—and to support the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests.
Assist with the creation of AAJ’s Law School Chapters and launch Law Student Outreach programs.
Highlight and promote the work of the plaintiff trial bar and bring awareness to law students and future plaintiff trial lawyers about the mission of AAJ and protecting the right to a trial by jury.
Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with law students, law professors, law school administrators, and AAJ members with strong ties to their alma mater.
Generate resources to ensure long-term law school chapter success.
Compile detailed progress reports on the programs.
Serve as a co-liaison to the AAJ Law School Committee.
Work closely with the AAJ Education department on the Student Trial Advocacy Competition (STAC).
Serve as the administrator of AAJ’s law student scholarships;
Make weekly retention calls and send Retention lists to the Marketing Department to send out monthly.
Process new membership applications and renewal invoices, create new member records, and update the membership database.
Process reconciled batches, refunds, adjustments, and cancellation requests, as needed.
Actively promote a membership and customer service culture throughout the organization.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of three years’ work experience at a law school, college or alumnae office, organizing and leading students on a university campus, or association experience required.
Previous demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
Customer service experience required.
Knowledge of NetForum database preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Interest in social justice, politics, and protecting consumers is essential.
Some travel may be required.
