Authority: Reports to the Government and Public Affairs Director
Location: Fairfax, VA
Research and draft briefings, policies and model legislation on issues that impact the irrigation industry
Work with the government and public affairs director in executing IA’s federal, state and local legislative and regulatory strategy
Manage the Smart Water Application Technologies (SWAT) initiative, including relationships with water providers
Monitor state and federal legislation and regulations
Manage fundraising strategy for IrrigationPAC, the political action committee of the Irrigation Association
Plan and implement annual fly-in
Provide information, direction and staff support to the IA Government Affairs Committee
Assist in the development and support of public affairs campaigns like Smart Irrigation Month
Provide support to the advocacy of irrigation standards and codes
Other duties as assigned by the IA’s government and public affairs director
Excellent written and verbal communications as well as organizational skills
Minimum of five years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree required
Occasional travel throughout the U.S.
Travel to the Irrigation Show (one week per year, November or December)
Type: Full time, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
