The Director of Communications will develop messaging and content that builds PQA’s brand recognition as a measure developer and implementer focused on appropriate and safe medication use. The candidate will be responsible for creating a communications strategy that embraces social and digital media, creates online communities, develops e-newsletters and establishes content in conjunction with the PQA team. The candidate will be responsible for generating media impressions and generating traction on PQA’s initiatives and highlighting how PQA’s activities improve healthcare outcomes for patients, relative to medication use, and how the changing quality and performance landscape will help our organization expand rapidly.
The successful candidate will be able to tie-in health policy and changes in the healthcare delivery system as we move from a fee-for-service environment to a value-based healthcare system and will be skilled at creating content that engages PQA’s multi-stakeholder base. Strong written and oral communications are a must. The PQA Director of Communications will be a key spokesperson for the company.
Create and manage a comprehensive communications strategy that highlights membership benefits for a diverse group of stakeholders, brand recognition, and internal communications, across traditional and digital channels.
Develop and implement a marketing strategy across blog, social media, and other channels including an email marketing strategy.
Draft and edit content for traditional and digital purposes, including internal announcements, blog articles, talking points, messaging, presentations, letters, press releases, and web copy.
Monitor and report results to optimize communications strategy.
Maintain and update the progress against PQA’s 3-year Board approved strategic plan bi-annually.
Manage and mentor interns and fellows.
Collaborate with PQA staff and members to collect and disseminate best practices through various methods of communication and outreach, including newsletters, Quality Forums, social media and other forums/workshops.
Working with the PQA team to identify, initiate and execute opportunities for new educational programs including webinars, trainings, etc.
Support outreach efforts for all meetings including the Annual Meeting and Leadership Summit.
Establish and maintain relationships with communications representatives at stakeholder organizations.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
At least 5 years of communications, journalism, and/or marketing experience; a mix of agency and in-house experience ideal
Strong understanding of public relations and communications (internal & external), as well as general content marketing expertise
Ability to develop comprehensive, multi-channel strategic marketing and communications plans that support organizational goals
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work with colleagues at all levels within the organization
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and across various levels of the organization
Experience serving in communications roles demonstrating pro-active strategies and self initiative in identifying opportunities
Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism or communications and experience in healthcare or association industry preferred
