The nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), has an excellent opportunity in our Division of Continuing Medical Education for an individual who is a creative writer, able to take the initiative, effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage a heavy workload, pay close attention to detail, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and work both independently and as part of a team to provide to manage the marketing communications and promotional program for the AAP National Conference and Exhibition (NCE).
The NCE Program Manager will carry the tasks of:
Develop, implement and manage an annual integrated marketing campaign, in collaboration with Marketing and Convention and Meeting Services staff. Align targeted messaging utilizing appropriate communication channels to key audience groups including professional attendees, exhibitors, and family members with the goal of maintaining and growing overall and member attendance, based upon Academy priorities.
Manage all marketing and promotional activities of the NCE including establishing timelines for the design, production and distribution of the NCE products both for the vendors and all AAP staff, and ensuring that all deadlines are met.
Manage all print production and design responsibilities for NCE educational and logistical publications, including, but not limited to, the Registration Brochure/Preliminary Program, Disclosure Grid, On-Site Program, Exhibit Guide, and Pocket Guide.
Assist with scheduling, organizing, and coordinating the educational program of the NCE.
Monitor medical meeting industry trends and use them to make recommendations for NCE marketing plans to optimize conference growth.
Manage and approve all NCE advertising in compliance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support and AAP policies/guidelines.
Manage external marketing/design contracts and related vendor activities.
Collaborate with other AAP staff to manage the Conference Planner, NCE Web site, and Mobile App, and social media platforms.
Qualified candidates will possess:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, education or related field required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
3-5 years’ experience in communications and marketing required.
Website and app management, print production, and budget and vendor management experience preferred.
Non-profit and/or CME experience a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and databases required; experience with HTML and website content management systems (i.e., Wordpress) preferred.
Some travel and weekend work required.
