RILA is seeking a creative, energetic and dynamic marketing professional to oversee messaging and the planning and execution of marketing plans to drive growth at four major conferences in both attendance and exhibitor/sponsors. The Director, Event Marketing is responsible for the marketing, branding, and promotion for RILA conferences and other events as assigned. Reporting directly to the Senior EVP of Retail Operations & Education, this position will create innovative marketing solutions to motivate attendance, engagement, and participation of both attendees and exhibitors & sponsors in all RILA events.
Work with event teams to develop and execute the overall marketing strategy and communications for the association’s annual conferences and other assigned events, focusing on both event attendees and exhibitors/sponsors.
Execute the event marketing activities: timelines, budgets, research, planning, materials, messaging, promotion, monitoring, evaluating, and communicating the success of these activities.
Produce marketing copy and material in print and electronic form.
Ensure marketing communications comply with RILA standards, including on-target messaging and tone, corporate branding consistency and cultural sensitivity and verbiage.
Ensure timely dissemination of marketing information through a variety of print, mail, electronic, digital (including website) and other channels to specific targeted audiences.
Provide day-to-day management of external event marketing and design vendors, ensuring work is completed on time and on budget.
Work with appropriate leadership to develop, manage, monitor, and report on budgets provided for event marketing programs.
Keep current with best practices in email marketing, content marketing, experiential marketing, and automation strategies.
Track event promotional email campaigns. Evaluate metrics measurements; Analyze ROI and innovate new ideas to optimize and improve campaigns.
Produce and present post-event marketing analysis.
Attend RILA events and provide on-site staff support.
Manage structure and maintenance of marketing lists within association database (Salesforce/Fonteva).
Perform special projects as assigned.
BA in Marketing or related field
4-7 years of progressively responsible marketing experience with direct experience promoting live events, conferences and tradeshows
Exceptional writing ability, including 2-3 years promotional copywriting experience for a professional audience
Demonstrated experience in conceptualizing marketing strategy and plans and in executing them, employing a variety of marketing techniques
Solid understanding of integrated event marketing and promotional implementation
Strong budget management skills
Exceptional communication skills, collaborative approach, professional demeanor and ability to work within cross-functional teams
Strong presentation skills
A creative, out-of-the-box thinker
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and InDesign) and HTML a plus.
Experience in event marketing and communications within an association preferred
Meet deadlines, manage time well and perform job responsibilities without constant supervision
Exceptional attention to detail, quality and accuracy; excellent proofreading skills
