Job Summary In conjunction with the Senior Director, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), ensure compliance with the criteria, essentials and standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the ACCME self-study process, the American Board of Pathology (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements, and standards required for Continuing Medical Laboratory Education (CMLE). Responsible for day to day maintenance of documentation and records related to any requirements, standards and/or guidelines. Manage the ASCP Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Curriculum project, as well as liaise with the Curriculum, Educational Resource and Scientific Advisory Committee (CER-SAC).
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to ACCME essential areas, standards and policies for CME accreditation as well as standards for CMLE, including submission of reports across the entire organization.
Establish and enforce policies related to CME and CMLE based on the direction of the Commission on Continuing Professional Development (CCPD).
Management of the CMLE approved programs project; review applications, process payments, monitor institution/organization compliance with guidelines, correspond with applicants, issue reminder/renewal letters, issue certificates, prepare budgets and monitor expenses.
Assure compliance with various accrediting, regulatory and statutory requirements for CME and CMLE activities (California, Florida and CE Broker) for laboratory personnel licensure requirements.
Assure compliance with the ABP’s MOC program requirements and submit documentation as requested.
Educate new and existing staff on ACCME updated criteria and/or any revisions or changes to standards that relate to CME or CMLE activities. Create tools and resources for use within the Division of Learning and Educational Research to help product managers’ document, show evidence and ensure compliance with standards.
Collaborate with departments and product managers in planning and developing certified CME/CMLE activities.
Conduct periodic review of activity files to ensure compliance. Provide input and feedback to product managers and other staff to fill any gaps identified in the files.
Assist with the annual evaluation of the overall CME program as a component of the Scorecard Report.
Work with ASCP volunteers (including the CCPD) to interpret and understand CME/CMLE essentials, criteria, standards, policies and procedures and assist them in ensuring compliance.
Manage the continuous ACCME self study process for the overall CME program.
Interface with the ACCME on accreditation issues, with the AMA on credit issues, and with the ABP on MOC issues. Prepare the ACCME PARs report and all other documents related to the maintenance of accreditation, as well as the ABP self-assessment module (SAM) audit documentation.
Manage joint providership relationships and ensure compliance with CME programs offered through joint providership.
Provide input in the ASCP transcript system to ensure compliance.
Directly liaise with the CER-SAC to ensure curriculum project goals are met.
Update curriculum data periodically and manage project goals (scientific interest groups (SIG) development/launch, updating competency outlines, identifying hot topics).
Job Specifications Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Adult, Continuing or Professional Education preferred.
Familiarity with CME accreditation and compliance a plus.
Educational or work experience in continuing medical education and program evaluation a plus.
Excellent diction, grammar, and vocabulary both verbal and written with the ability to organize, structure and communicate information and ideas clearly.
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
Exceptional customer service skills including ability to work with ASCP staff, volunteers, faculty and authors
Ability to collaborate within and across departments to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Organized self starter with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
