Think About Your Eyes (TAYE) is a national public awareness campaign, presented by The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association, designed to educate the public on the benefits of vision health and promote the importance of getting an annual comprehensive eye exam.
TAYE is seeking a Director of Development/Fundraising (DDF) to join our team. This is a contract for hire position and will report to the TAYE Executive Director, with a dotted line to the TAYE Advisory Committee. The DDF will plan, direct, and execute TAYE sponsorship/partnership development for its current and future funding priorities. The DDF will work with the TAYE Executive Director and Advisory Committee to develop a multi-year strategic plan to lead sponsorship/partnership efforts from strategy to goal achievement. The DDF will also organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary support or other gifts for TAYE. The DDF is responsible for raising awareness of the organization's work, goals, and financial needs.
Develop strategic plan with short and long range goals to meet objectives including strategies to encourage new or increased funding. Research all methods of funding and determine feasibility of potential programs.
Solicit cash or in-kind sponsorships from individual, business, or government donors.
Work with or seek assistance from the TAYE Executive Director and/or other Advisory Council partners as needed to secure commitment from prospective supporters, associations, and agencies.
Support Executive Director in budgeting, profit and loss tracking, long range forecasting and other fiscal management activities for TAYE in accordance with TAYE’s financial goals and in collaboration with The Vision Council CFO.
Ensure delivery of all financial plans of campaign with regular reporting and monitoring of sponsorship/partnership cash flow.
Identify and build relationships with industry supporters/partners.
Develop and implement a long-range cultivation and solicitation program for selected partnership prospects.
Contact corporate representatives to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs including writing presentations or other promotional materials to increase awareness of the causes, missions, or goals of TAYE.
Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate program data.
Establish sponsorship/partnership or participation goals for special events or specified time periods.
Compile or develop materials to submit to granting or other funding organizations.
Establish development policies, systems and procedures.
Develop and maintain contact lists.
Create, cultivate and enhance longer term strategic partnerships with potential supporters, associations, and agencies.
Attend meetings & conferences as appropriate to promote organizational goals and solicit funding.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in marketing, communication, public relations, business or equivalent.
8 to 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in development, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving to include budgeting and supervisory experience.
Proven track record of closing a variety of gifts, grant or proposal writing.
Exemplary communication skills in working with a broad cross-section of healthcare professionals, employees, volunteers and Board leaders.
Experience in a non-profit setting or an association background is strongly preferred, as is health care related experience.
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation a plus.
Travel required: DDF must be able to travel 25 to 33% of the time.
