The Texas Dental Association, a professional association in Austin, Texas, representing Texas dentists is seeking an Executive Director to achieve strategic goals while demonstrating high level leadership competencies with experience in managing and mentoring staff. This individual will serve as the chief executive officer in facilitating the development of strategic directives to include: planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all programs and activities for the association in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and established policies of the House of Delegates and the Board of Directors.
The ability to carry out critical decisions within existing policies. Serve as a communication liaison for elected and appointed officials, the internal staff, and membership.
Ability to advise on matters of protocol, policy, and accepted practices. Maintain a strong line of communication with leadership on all of the association’s matters and assist them in carrying out their administrative responsibilities under the Bylaws.
Ensure that all funds and physical assets are appropriately safeguarded and administered under the supervision of the Board and Treasurer. Prepare preliminary budgets for study and review by the Budget Committee before presentation to Board.
Attend all meetings of the Board and assist the Secretary of the Board with the duties in providing information, recording, preparing and publishing the minutes of the Board and the House of Delegates.
Provide the leadership and direction of approximately thirty staff members in carrying out the services to the dentist members of the Association.
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degree desired.
Significant experience in upper management and/or executive level responsibilities in an association or organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel extensively, both in and out of state.

The Texas Dental Association (TDA), chartered in 1871, is the third largest state dental association in the United States. The Association's councils and committees serve as policy recommending agencies. Each of these is assigned to study issues relating to its special area of interest and to make recommendations on these matters to the Board of Directors and the House of Delegates. The Association's official publication is the Texas Dental Journal. Published since 1883, it is the oldest continuously operating dental periodical in the Americas.
