The Executives’ Club is Chicago’s premier membership and business forum. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the Director of Programs is responsible for the development, planning, execution and evaluation of The Club’s signature series programs and senior women’s leadership dinners. This position will supervise the programs team, including two program specialists as well as the program administrative assistant, and work cooperatively with other members of The Club staff. The Director of Programs will be responsible for developing and managing the department’s annual budget to ensure that The Club’s financial goals are achieved.
Develop and maintain a speaker pipeline relevant to current business topics and trends
Generate speaker invitations to ensure consistent, rolling fulfillment of signature series program calendar; meet goal of booking each speaker six to nine months in advance of program
Collaborate with senior management and other team members to identify potential themes, topics and speakers
Develop program themes, titles and descriptions sufficiently ahead of time so as to ensure sufficient marketing and promotion and sponsorship sales
Develop new and maintain existing relationships with speakers and members for all Club signature series programs
Manage all aspects of the signature series programs from inception to completion
Oversee activities of the program staff to ensure their program portfolio is managed appropriately to ensure financial success and provide member satisfaction
Develop new and review existing program marketing objectives and ensure timely execution of objectives for all signature programs
Liaise with other directors and managers to ensure effective and efficient program delivery and member satisfaction
Assist with the sales and marketing of The Club’s signature programs
Lead staff to deliver consistent execution of high quality Club programs
Oversee professional development of program staff by providing clear, consistent communication and feedback on a timely basis
Ensure that all programs operate within the approved budget; identify shortfalls and provide action plan as needed
Review program financial reports on a monthly basis and provide status reports to the Chief Operating Officer
Develop and manage the department’s annual budget
Meet the financial goals established for the program department
Four-year degree required, plus a minimum of five years’ experience planning professional development or executive education, content development and logistics.
Prior supervisory experience a plus
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Keen knowledge of and familiarity with Chicago businesses and leaders, world affairs, global business trends and global leaders
Prior experience interfacing with all levels of clients including C-suite executives and world leaders
Professional presentation skills and ability to lead meetings and conference calls with C-level executives
Highly effective organizer with outstanding attention to detail
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively prioritize own and others’ work
Self-motivated leader, able to handle multiple projects in varying stages of development and meet deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search tools; knowledge of iMIS, ZoHo, LexisNexis or other database software preferred.
Candidate must be available for program set up as early as 6:30 a.m. and evening receptions, which last until 8:00 p.m.
Required to carry and/or lift up to 30lbs. and be able to stand for at least an hour at programs
Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile is required
