The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for an Editorial Production Associate that will facilitate the production of online and print communications delivered through BrainFacts.org. This is an ideal role for a candidate who is well organized, has a high level of detail, and who enjoys coordinating online and print production.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and monitors timelines, production schedules and editorial calendars.
Coordinates writers, videographers and video animators, podcasters, illustrators and editors to create original multimedia content.
Works with writers and producers to manage online and print communications production, and coordinates scientific vetting to ensure accuracy.
Assists in online production and distributing BrainFacts.org online and printed feature articles.
Responds to public inquiries as needed.
Researches and obtains appropriate scientific imagery for use in articles and publications, and manages permissions for image use.
Coordinates vendor contracts, translation agreements, and order fulfillment for various materials.
Assists in preparation and dissemination of materials for meetings and ongoing projects for BrainFacts.org's Editorial Board and assigned committees.
Reports on department progress.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English, journalism, communications, business, or science;
Minimum 2 years of experience.
Experience with project management and experience at an editorial publication (print or online), scientific or medical institution/organization or public relations agency a plus.
Experience writing and editing scientific information.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail;
Collaborative style to work effectively with colleagues, other departments, and Society volunteer leaders and scientific reviewers.
Experience working with high level staff/members.
Proficient in effectively and independently managing projects and timelines, multi-tasking, and setting priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs. Ability to handle interpersonal situations with tact and professionalism.
