The Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS) is a rapidly growing professional association focused on independent school technology personnel. The Manager of Membership and Member Services plays a vital role in realizing ATLIS’s mission for our membership. This individual will work directly with the Executive Director to design and carry out a plan for sustainability and growth in membership that will empower ATLIS’s ability to effectively and sustainably carry out its mission. The Manager of Membership and Member Services works as part of a team of professionals who serve ATLIS’s membership by providing support and insight, exclusive membership benefits, and access to a network of colleagues.
The Manager of Membership and Member Services should have exceptional interpersonal skills, be extremely organized, and enjoy working in an entrepreneurial environment.
Manages member recruitment and retention:
Acts as main point of contact for members and potential members inquiring about membership and member benefits.
Conducts in-person interactions with members and potential members via school visits, regional meet-ups, and attendance at regional and national conferences as an attendee or exhibitor. Expected travel at 15-20%.
Creates and implements outreach plans to constituents including new heads of school, new technology directors, and current and prospective members.
Oversees the implementation and analysis of an annual member survey.
Provides membership related information to the Executive Director, Board and Membership Committee.
Oversees the delivery of membership services to ATLIS members:
Conducts new member onboarding and orientation.
Guides all members in accessing benefits.
Communicates regularly with members regarding benefits and events.
Is attuned to the needs of members, working in partnership with the Executive Director and ATLIS staff in strategically planning new member benefits.
Analyzes the impact of member benefits, recommending changes and updates as necessary.
Performs financial and technical operations related to membership:
Handles invoicing, payment, deposits, reconciliation and reminders for member dues, event registrations, or purchases.
Maintains membership records and online membership directory through association management system.
Sets up accounts for new members, including transfers, changes in status, new employees, and other changes as required.
Performs updates for membership sections of the ATLIS website.
Administers ATLIS social media channels.
Manages a contact database of members, potential members, related contacts, documenting interactions.
Assists in preparing and managing the ATLIS annual budget with regard to membership and member benefits for budget projections and input of actual figures to date and end-of-year (eoy) projections.
Supports ATLIS events:
Assists the ATLIS Professional Development Director with marketing the ATLIS Annual Conference and other events to members.
Assists in recruiting sponsorship for conferences and events and payments.
Assists with miscellaneous tasks associated with conferences and events.
High level of proficiency in written and oral communication skills including listening and speaking 1:1 or with groups in person or via video conferencing.
Strong customer service orientation and satisfaction in providing assistance.
Strong organizational, planning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
Self-motivated and self-directed.
Experienced in the use of computer based constituent relationship management system for membership tracking.
Proficiency in Google Apps and adept in the use of the Internet; with the ability to learn new applications quickly.
Minimum of three years experience in membership, admissions, or development including corporate sponsorships.
Knowledge of the independent school community a plus.
Able to work independently from a home office, with strong communication skills for connecting via distance.
Telecommuting is allowed.
