The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is looking for a Board Liaison to support our mission of improving education opportunities for teachers around the world. The Board Liaison role provides coordination and support between the ISTE Board of Directors and the Office of the CEO. This individual will also provide administrative support to ISTE’s Chief Learning Officer (CLO). The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and excellent communication and technology skills and be adept at multi-tasking and managing the logistics for a variety of meetings and events throughout the year. The candidate will be able to manage communications between the CEO, ISTE Board of Directors and a variety of stakeholders. Prior experience in board governance and management is preferred but not required.
Essential Functions • Provide administrative support and project coordination to the board of directors and board committees through the preparation and distribution of meeting notices, agendas, minutes, materials (including maintenance of board portal), etc. • Coordinate and facilitate the board policy monitoring process, timelines and deadlines in support of both the board of directors and the CEO. • Understand the board’s policies and by-laws in order to inform and advise. • Coordinate and attend quarterly board meetings and board committee meetings and calls, and record and maintain all meeting minutes. • Manage the annual board nominations and elections process. • Coordinate and facilitate board communications. • Prepare and maintain the board budget in collaboration with the board president and CEO. • Coordinate all logistics for board and committee meetings. • Maintain official records of the organization, including bylaws, policies and procedures, board committee membership and records, and board minutes. • Manage travel requests and reservations for board and CLO travel. • Manage the schedule and speaking requests for the CLO
Minimum Qualification Guidelines • Post-secondary degree. • Minimum of four years of professional experience with an understanding and interest in executive administration. • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be acceptable. Also desirable: • Experience with board governance support including board management tools such as BoardPaq.
Critical Skills • Strong project and people management skills, exceptional organizational skills, customer service driven, and excellent oral and written communications skills with good spelling, outstanding proofreading and grammatical skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. • Administrative experience (preferably with organizations with 30 or more employees) and an appreciation for supporting boards of directors and committees of the board. • Strong ability to take initiative, and improve workflows and processes. • Demonstrated ability to develop and oversee department-level budgets. • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, members of the board of directors and ISTE stakeholders. • Ability to meet deadlines and under pressure. • Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality. • Demonstrated experience recording accurate minutes of meetings. • Interest in board management and policy governance such as the Carver Model.

ISTE has offices located in Portland, OR and Washington, DC (located in Arlington, VA). This position will be located at the Washington, DC office. This position requires occasional out of state travel; participation in periodic conference calls outside of traditional work hours; and work on occasional Saturdays for organization meetings.
