The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization and is responsible for the consistent achievement of the organization's mission and strategic objectives. The Executive Director works to implement the vision, strategic plan and other activities of a volunteer board and committees by ensuring effective communication, managing resources and daily business operations, providing financial oversight, leading a full-time staff currently working in a virtual office environment, and representing the Commission to internal and external audiences. The position involves frequent paid travel and public speaking, but will not require relocation.

Required:

  • Bachelors’ degree or higher
  • Previous association executive experience at the level of Executive Director or Assistant/Associate Director (organization’s number two executive)
  • Five years administrative experience
  • Demonstrated record of association executive experience related to:
    • Leadership, management, problem solving, and strategic plan implementation
    • Attention to detail, initiative, and strong organizational skills
    • Customer service orientation
    • Budgeting, contracts, financial stewardship, and vendor relations
    • Human resources, staff management and development
    • Written, oral, public speaking and electronic communication
    • Board and volunteer relations

Preferred:

  • Certified Association Executive credential (CAE), or attainment of this credential shortly after employment
  • Association management experience in educational accreditation and/or healthcare
  • Managing and leading staff in a virtual office environment
  • Outsourcing of specific business operations to a professional employment organization (PEO), or similar

Founded in 2006, the CAATE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit specialized accreditor serving over 400 professional degree, post-professional degree and post-professional residency programs as the sole accreditor for Athletic Training education. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession. The CAATE is recognized as a higher education accrediting body by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
