A large trade association is seeking a results-oriented Membership Recruitment Director to provide support to local associations in developing, planning, and executing membership drives. The Director will work collaboratively with local association staff, leaders, and grassroots members to build and/or assess and retool their current drive efforts. An important component will also be projecting, tracking, and analyzing the success of recruitment efforts using current technology. Responsibilities also include creating and conducting training and coaching programs for volunteers and staff.
Qualified candidates will be self-directed, highly organized, creative, and have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including strong presentation skills. Candidates should have the ability to develop and deploy comprehensive written programming to stakeholders and enjoy developing relationships with a range of personalities from CEOs and front line staff to volunteer leaders and members. The ideal candidate will be motivated by putting plans into action and leveraging key insights to make the next project even more successful. Candidates should also have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. This person must be able to work around tight deadlines and always within budget. The ideal candidate will be a strong team-player who collaborates well within and between departments.
Candidates should have a minimum of four years of experience in membership recruitment/drives, fundraising, or business development, preferably with a non-profit/association. Demonstrated project management as well as public speaking experience is required. Candidates must be comfortable with adopting new technology. Working knowledge of survey tools (e.g., MagnetMail, Tableau) as well as analytics tools (e.g., SAS, JMP) is preferred. Extensive travel (up to 50%) during certain seasons is required. A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or related field, or the equivalent in education and experience, is also required. A PMP certification is preferred.
