Professional Association seeking a dependable and highly collaborative team player with extensive work experience in development and sales, who takes the initiative on projects, follows through on detail, and works well under pressure and on deadlines for its Director of Development position.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining a comprehensive fundraising and sponsorship program on behalf of AIPLA. This position will be responsible for the development, sales and fundraising endeavors to boost law firm, individual and corporate investment in the Association’s events, programs and capital priorities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute AIPLA’s comprehensive fundraising plan, including sponsor and vendor programs, advertising, annual fund, special events and capital projects. Regularly meet and interface with key individuals and organizations, and identify potential partners whose interests align with AIPLA’s mission.
Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of continued annual non-dues revenue to support the organization and achieve agreed upon development/sales targets and outcomes with set milestones and in a prescribed timeline.
Work closely with AIPLA’s Executive Director, Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with other staff assigned to support AIPLA’s fundraising efforts. Liaise with the Development Task Force or other appropriate AIPLA committee/task force and provide updates and guidance as appropriate. Coordinate development/sales efforts with other departments.
Create and manage fundraising database and tracking systems. Analyze the territory/market’s potential, perform cost-benefit analysis and provide timely status reports to the Executive Director, as well as reports on sponsor/vendor needs, concerns, interests, competitive activities and potential for new products/services.
Sound knowledge of development/sales processes and requirements for non-profit organizations. The successful candidate will have strong negotiation skills and excellent relationship management skills. A background in, and eight to ten years work experience in development and sales with proven progressive responsibilities and excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
