Founded in 1942, the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) is a national trade association whose membership includes agencies employing surety bond producers, surety companies, reinsurers, and construction-oriented CPA firms.
NASBP is currently located in Washington, DC but will be relocating to Bethesda, MD in March of 2018.
Candidate must also be energetic, flexible, and a knowledgeable government relations professional with exceptional communication, analytical, strategic thinking, project management and coalition building skills.
Polished demeanor, strong oral and written communications skills, a team player and familiarity with Microsoft Office and with legislative tracking software are a must. Bachelor of Arts degree; Masters of Art in government or related field or knowledge of surety and construction industries are a plus.
Track state legislation through legislative seasons using legislative/regulatory tracking database software
Prepare state tracking document for external use
Co-author of bimonthly newsletter (Focal Point) focused on state legislative and regulatory activity throughout the country
Maintain Association’s PAC which include FEC filings, candidate disbursements and member contributions
Establish, maintain and foster working relationships with allied organizations and state stakeholder organizations, such as those representing subcontractors, suppliers, and contractors
Staff Liaison to select NASBP Volunteer Committees
Responsible for responding to various state-related issue inquiries from NASBP members as received
Attend local programs for small and emerging contractors and report results to Director and the Small & Emerging Business Committee
Assist the Director with annual legislative fly-in
Other duties as assigned
Position is supervised by and reports directly to the Director, Government Relations and will work closely with other Association personnel influencing external communications, such as the Director, Communications, the General Counsel, and, at times, the Chief Executive Officer.
