The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is searching for a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Representative to join our team. This individual is an accomplished sales professional with the initiative, vision, and strategic skill to drive sales and further SAME’s mission by increasing private industry membership, support, and participation.
SAME leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure-related challenges. Founded in 1920, SAME unites public and private sector individuals and organizations from across the architecture, engineering, construction, environmental and facility management, cyber security, project planning, contracting and acquisition, and related disciplines in support of national security.
The Sales Representative is responsible for selling SAME’s products and services, with focus on advertising and membership, but including other products and services such as booths, sponsorships, job postings, and other items as assigned. Participates in the development of and execution of a sales plan which will meet SAME’s business goals of expanding SAME’s sustaining membership, increasing and diversifying advertising participation and enhancing participation and promoting the reputation of the Society. The Sales Representative works with a cross-functional teams to achieve member satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Contacts dropped Individual Members for reinstatement to active status and updates records in the database based on lists provided monthly. (Non-Commissioned)
Renews dropped Sustaining Member Companies for reinstatement and updates member records as needed from list provided monthly. (Non-Commissioned)
Sells New Sustaining Memberships to companies who have not been previous members of SAME. (Commissioned)
Responsible for lead generation and strategy to grow sustaining memberships, including researching, identifying and vetting new prospects and contacts using LinkedIn, referrals, and other search engine tools.
Sells advertising in The Military Engineer magazine, TME Online, Real TiME newsletter, SAME website, and other SAME communication platforms. (Commissioned)
Creates and executes advertising contracts for all advertising sales.
Sells consultatively and makes recommendations to prospects and members about the various products and services SAME offers to meet their business goals.
Develops annual sales plan in conjunction with Director, which details activities to follow during the fiscal year, to meet or exceed sales quota.
Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face and cold calling business owners, direct mail, email, and networking.
Responsible for sourcing and developing member relationships and referrals.
Maintains accurate records of sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within assigned territory.
Tracks all sales and presents regular reports to Director.
Evaluates and recommends new revenue opportunities.
Collects advertising artwork by ad due date from advertisers for each issue of the TME magazine, as well as artwork for all digital advertisements (logos, banners, etc for TME Online, Real TiME, website, directory, etc.)
Responsible for notifying graphic design staff that advertisements have been collected and assists with recovery of new ad copy if what is submitted does not meet the outlined specifications in the marketing kit.
Works as needed with the Expo team on exhibitor accounts and sponsorship sales. (commissioned and non-commissioned).
Attend meetings, conferences and events with heavy prospect attendance to promote SAME.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in sales and customer service.
4 years professional experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of the architecture, engineering and construction industry helpful.
Strong understanding of customer and market dynamic and requirements.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business or related field.
May substitute 4 years professional experience for educational degree requirement.

Compensation for this position is a combination of base salary and commission pay.
