The American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Inc. (ABTS) is a non-profit corporation, which serves the public interest and the profession of thoracic surgery by promoting excellence in practice through certification and maintenance of certification processes. The ABTS (www.abts.org) is located in downtown Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood and is looking for experienced candidates for our full time Medical Content Editor position.
The Medical Content Editor assists in ensuring the integrity and success of the ABTS’ examinations and educational assessment tools. The primary position responsibilities include maintenance of the examination item bank, item entry, editing and proofing examination materials, tracking items through the editorial process, attending and participating in test committee meetings and assisting in the preparation of final examination copies. In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing applications, archiving examinations and copywriting materials.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree although a Master’s degree is preferred in a related field. Four to six years of medical editing work experience is required.

Required Computer Skills:
Experience with ExamDeveloper preferred
Microsoft Office - Word and Excel preferred
Familiarity with IMIS and other web-based programs
The American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) is a non-profit medical board that has been certifying and recertifying thoracic surgeons since 1948. The ABTS is located in downtown Chicago off of Michigan Avenue. The ABTS is one of 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
