Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director, Meetings and Sponsorship is responsible for strategic direction, development and execution of all conferences, meetings, and all live/in-person events. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing non-dues revenue initiatives, including Corporate Sponsorship, Exhibit Sales, and Advertising Sales.
Overseeing the overall logistics and program management for Annual Meeting; hotel contract negotiations; convention & hotel meeting space assignments; managing the Meetings department; Serving as main contact with key convention center services; participating in the Annual Meeting strategic planning meetings and committee meetings.
The Director, Meetings and Sponsorship will demonstrate experience and expertise in the area of meetings/events innovations and technology; best practices to create the best experience possible for members; and continually drive process and quality improvements. The Director will sustain professional, collaborative, and high-functioning relationships with all departments. The Director will have demonstrated successes in orchestrating increased non-dues revenue and understand best practices in increasing non-dues revenue. The Director assists with organizational activities and special projects as directed.
Seven to ten years of meetings and exhibition management experience and prior sponsorship experience within a professional association or like organization. Proven history of progressive meeting & convention leadership, healthcare or technology association experience preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience managing a meeting planning department. CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) or other related certification strongly preferred.
