The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), a non-profit membership association of 220,000 current and retired federal employees, is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the earned pay, retirement and health care benefits of federal employees, retirees and their survivors. NARFE’s mission is both critical and timely as Congress and the Administration consider unprecedented cuts to federal pay and benefits, threatening to undermine the value of public service the effectiveness of our government.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Editor to support the editing and proofreading of narfe magazine and provide support for the development of website content. Additional the Assistant Editor will:
Serve as the back-up to the editor for the magazine.
Work with content owners to plan and maintain online content.
Write, edit and proofread other NARFE publications.
You should have a bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years experience in writing, editing, and proofreading for both print publications and the web. You should also have:
Knowledge of the AP style manual
Knowledge of search engine optimization strategies and website analytics
Knowledge of web content best practices
Skill in computer graphics software (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator), content management systems, and/or photography a plus.
